From Neuroscience to Psychology
Before embarking on a career in psychology, Ilvana dedicated over ten years to neuroscience, focusing on how the brain works in relation to mental health conditions like schizophrenia.
Ilvana worked at prestigious institutions, including the University of Melbourne and the Queensland Brain Institute. Her latest research aimed to predict which medications would be effective for different individuals based on brain information. Her work at the Monash psychiatric inpatient unit sparked her passion for helping those suffering from mental health issues - this is when she decided to become a psychologist.
Passionate about improving mental health through her research, Ilvana shared her knowledge with the public through various talks at international conferences, as well as local events - such as Pint of Science Australia. She was also invited to speak on the Neurodivergent Women podcast, discussing psychosis and schizophrenia.

Ilvana is a published author whose work has been featured in high-impact journals, including a cover feature in Human Brain Mapping (see image on the right). Additionally, a talented artist has created works inspired by Ilvana's research (see images below).
